From the 'Belle Époque' ephemera and Parisian commercial history. During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, custom-made paper and wooden folding fans (éventails publicitaires) were highly popular promotional items given away or sold to affluent travellers and theatregoers visiting the vibrant commercial districts of Paris.
