A beautiful pair of signed antique portrait miniatures from the late 19th century.
The first portrait is Madame Récamier (born Jeanne Françoise Julie Adélaïde Bernard, 1777–1849), widely known as Juliette, was a legendary French socialite, fashion icon, and cultural influencer. She was one of the most famous and frequently painted women of the early 19th century.
This portrait is not painted it was produced using the 'dot-screen' method, widely known as halftone printing. On close inspection the dots are visible. It became commercially popular in the early 1890s.
The second portrait is an antique miniature portrait of an aristocratic lady in an 18th-century style, resembling depictions of Marie-Antoinette. The blue, white, and red feathers mark her as a patriot of France. This portrait has been delicately painted, probably on a porcelain plate.
There are some little wear marks on the frames, otherwise they are in great condition.
Please look closely at all the photos.
