Antique from France, mid to late 19th century bistro café coffee cup known as a Brulot. White with a faded gilt on rim and handle with little marks from previous use and fabrication process. Please look at photos carefully for further visual description.

It made of very thick and heavy white porcelain, good for anyone who likes their coffee to remain hot. It has smooth sides and the base is very thick.

The interesting fact about brulot cups is when turned upside down there is a hollow in the underside. This was used for a a few drops of alcohol to be poured into so that when the coffee was finished the drinker could follow it along with a whisky, rum, or most likely a French 'eau de vie'.

Height: 7.5cm
Diameter at rim: 7.5cm
