Antique French large white linen square pillowcase sham with a pink boarder and monogrammed initials MP or PM in one corner. It is simply stunning with the embroidered butterflies, in relief. There is a border of ladder embroidery around the edge of the central panel.
Found in the South West of France from an old French manor sale. These monogrammed bed linens were usually prepared for a marriage and then kept as heirloom items in the lady's trousseau.
It is very large and in good condition, the linen is very soft and supple, unlike cotton.
