French 1920s-30s neo-Gothic style pocket shrine, triptych, or portable oratory. They were often used as a travel altar or small devotional shrine. It is made of silver-toned and light patinated metal featuring hinged doors with religious reliefs and an architectural pointed-arch pediment topped with a cross.
The central section depicts Saint Thérèse of Lisieux (labeled SANCTA TERESIA A JESU INFANTE — Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus).
Saint Thérèse of Lisieux was beatified in 1923 and canonized in 1925. The Latin inscription Sancta Teresia (Saint Thérèse) confirms this piece was manufactured after her path to sainthood was officially recognized.
